Simple Food Sane Life™
Welcome to my new blog. In it, I plan to invite you to peek through the shadows of the dos and don’ts you’ve learned about food, and to step into the warm welcoming arms of the world of Simple Food Sane Life™! It’s true—many years of practice have proven it to me—simple food helps create a sane life.
I welcome all of you to make an appointment and come see my office space at Visions Medical Center in Wellesley, MA! For those of you who are local, this will be an amazing experience for you. For those who are non-local, out of state, or elsewhere around the world, breathe, be happy, have faith, I’m still coaching via phone and online!
Practicing at Visions Medical Center has given me the opportunity to expand my coaching and counseling practice to include classes, group programs, and ongoing support groups.
Happy 2009! (a little late, I know, but happy anyway!)
Let’s get started! Any day is ripe for new beginnings. At the new year, people often look toward the future and try to leave their pasts behind. They are setting new goals and intentions for themselves. Awesome! That always feels so liberating!
Now that resolutions are set and met (or not), how to you see yourself achieving these goals? Do you have expectations? Commitments? Plans? RULES ?!?!
The most popular new year’s goals are around health issues like weight loss, exercise, sleep, addiction, stress, etc. All are great pieces to our lifetime puzzle. Living a healthier, happier life all around.
As you get to know me through reading Simple Food Sane Life, you’ll discover I am quite a ‘foodie’ (ie: one who is passionate about food). I love the way people relate to all the types of food in their lives, whether it be what is on their meal plate or the food that is on their life plate. One of the common questions I hear as a health & food coach, is ‘what should I be eating?’ Or even, a demand like ‘tell me what I should be eating.’ I always give the same, sane answer.
Food. Eat Food. Eat what you want to eat! Simple. Well, maybe not so simple for everyone.
The responses to that are typically variations on the theme of fear around all the food rules! Yikes! These rules were set by people who had an answer to one food issue in life for one person. Eating what we want to eat all comes down to our relationship with food. We are each unique, and each person has a unique relationship with food. Yes, I promise, you too have a relationship with food. I invite you sincerely to awaken to it. J
In 2009 and for the rest of time, I encourage you to let that be a polygamist relationship with your food! Explore ways to be a poly-foodie! Enjoy the energy of the food. Experiment with colors, textures, aromas, flavors. Whole foods that nature provides for us are our best source to build and sustain a healthy body.
Having a relationship with food means that we relate to the food and the food relates to our bodies, minds and spirits. In every case food is our medicine. Food heals and nurtures us in many ways. Let me paraphrase my favorite food teacher, Marc David,
“The food itself is neither good nor bad, it’s how we choose to use it.”
Choose the food that will bless and heal your incredible body, mind and spirit.
I invite you to plunge right into each new day with me removing the barriers, and make the choices for a healthier happier relationship with food.
Enjoy!

Great!!!!!!!!!! I am looking forward to reading
THanks for writing this! I like how you take the approach of NOT having angry or shameful expectaitions. Is a great mind-frame to strive for!
Hey Scott,
Most people don’t even think about having a relationship with their food. Everything in life is our food …. we have a relationship with it all. Let’s make it fun and simple instead of stressful, shame and rule based.
Ask yourself “How is it that I have an amazing and fullfilling relationship with my body, life and the food that nourishes it?”
Enjoy!
Peace,
Karyn
